Abstract

The preservation of historical heritage in the current scenario is, in itself, a great challenge. Thinking about it within the northern and interior context of the Amazon region is more than a challenge; it is a moral obligation. This research lays bare the history of the south of Pará, a state in the North region of Brazil, exposes recurring difficulties in the historical trajectory, perceives the subjugated cultural richness and manage in a technical way to the conservation of historic urban sites in the context of the small town; not making them up, but attributing social functions to them. Conceição do Araguaia, a municipality in Pará, plays the role of a sample of the immense tourist, economic, social and educational potential of old small towns, which, rich in history and culture, are once again forgotten.
