Abstract

This dissertation aims at the professional performance of the Social Worker in gender violence, analyzing the performance of these professionals in the defense of women in the Specialized Court in Combating Domestic Violence in Palmas. It also has the following specific objectives: To identify the types of domestic and family violence against women, registered in the Specialized Court to Combat Violence; Check how professional assistance in gender violence is carried out, based on current legislation, especially the Maria da Penha Law; Highlight the professional importance of Social Workers in defending women who have survived domestic violence. The methodology had a qualitative emphasis. The semi- structured interview with Social Workers was the procedure adopted for the construction of qualitative data, with narrative elements of the interviewees' professional experience. Quantitative data was sourced from secondary data, documents from the TJ-TO, TCU, and others. The results and discussions point to the relevance of the professional and his/her intervention in society, mainly in the professional performance in situations of gender violence. Realizing that despite the numerous demands and existing socio-occupational spaces, professionals working in the socio-legal field must notoriously have the necessary qualification to serve the population, and how qualification, training, legal contributions and application of Laws are integrated for the realization of human rights. Therefore, the research demonstrates how the professional experience in gender violence permeates the emotional work constantly developed in this profession, and that the feelings are managed with intensity, and that they are part of the professional identity, since dealing with domestic violence leads us to several reflections, ranging from understanding how the complaint was made to the aggressor, such as closing the case, favorably or not in relation to the cycle of violence.
