O impacto da heteronormatividade no feminismo contemporâneo

Abstract

The aim of this paper was to analyze the impact of heteronormativity on contemporary feminism, focusing on the exclusions and marginalizations that occur within the movement itself. The reflection presented here began with Judith Butler's ideas on gender and sexuality, highlighting how heteronormativity imposes a normative standard that excludes non-normative identities. To this end, a bibliographical research was developed, based on authors such as Butler (2018) and Bell Hooks (2018), as well as an analysis of data on violence against LGBTQIA+ individuals in Brazil. The results of this research reveal that feminism often adopts exclusionary practices by disregarding the intersections of gender, race, class, and sexuality. It was observed that by privileging a universalized experience of women, typically white, cisgender, and heterosexual, the movement ends up reproducing the oppressions it seeks to combat. Consequently, it becomes urgent to rethink feminism as a plural and inclusive field that acknowledges the diversity of identities and social experiences.
