A melancolia na pós modernidade: problemáticas de um novo sujeito

Abstract

In approach to Melancholy as a social malaise of postmodernity, firstly it was necessary contextualize the different understandings attributed to this in each historical period. So we will talk soon about how it was understood during periods of antiquity and middle ages, because the greater intention is to pass such conceptions, to finally bring studies which aim reach the current context that relates melancholy to the problems of the subject's identity. reviewing some Freudian concepts, in line with the analyzes of other authors, in view of frustrations resulting from the demand for human utility and productivity wich must be the flow of information and advances that occurred in society. modernity gave us characteristics of melancholy as a symptom, not only being able to be represented by a state of helplessness or inertia, originating in the unconscious also as would be based on a problematic process of introjection of reality. However, postmodernity added shifting features about a new melancholic subject experiencing the suffering of existence amid unrestricted access to multiple realities, propagated by the rise of cultural plurality, placing the search for identity and individuality in the background. In this way, we will check some crucial points to understand what is the melancholy associated with the problem of human in a process of continuous development in society, and how a problem as subjective like this, has become a social malaise.
