Abstract

This work aims to understand how the growth and the different denominations of Protestantism in Brazil affect Brazilian architecture and urbanism. Christianity is one of the world's major religions, whose origin is based on the Abrahamic faith, which believes in one God. With the inclusion of the Protestant Reformation, in the sixteenth century, there was the introduction of new denominations such as Anglicans, Anabaptists and Protestants. In Brazil, according to the IBGE, 44 million people are evangelical, especially the Assembly of God, called Pentecostal. Thus, the present work seeks to study the possible influences of Protestantism on Brazilian architecture and urbanism, based on articles, books, interviews and visits to places of worship. In addition, it presents the proposal to elaborate a temple of the Assembly of God Church in Imperatriz/MA, which had aesthetic quality and is sustainable, becoming a place of beauty and beauty. In this way, we hope to contribute to the discussion on religious architecture, giving respect so that new temples are built with greater quality and sustainability, becoming a reference for the community.
