A história da educação brasileira no “quarto de despejo”: a Literatura de Carolina Maria de Jesus

Abstract

This work aims to address highlighted elements of the History of Brazilian Education in the context and content of the work of Carolina Maria de Jesus, especially in her book: “Quarto de Despejo: diário de uma Favelada2”. Thus, this study was guided by the advances and setbacks that education went through during the years of populist democracy and the beginning of military governments identified in the reality experienced by the author. It is identified that this theme is of great relevance for the academic training and future of teachers, it is the story of a black favela who became an important writer after the publication and recognition of the qualities of the book “Quarto de Despejo”. This work makes us reflect on the context of most Brazilian families, without access to education, but who, like Carolina, aspire to study for themselves and their entire family, as well as a dignified, better life.
