Abstract

This article aims to make a study of the representation of women in Brazilian literature of female authorship in the early twentieth century. Therefore, I will study the novel Your Excellency.: The President of the Republic in the year 2500, (1929), the Adalzira Bittencuort. In this novel, the author imagines a society in which women occupy positions of power hitherto occupied predominantly by men. This study will, therefore, an analysis of the status of women and socio-political discussions in the present work. Through the novel, mix of fiction, political debate and exposition ofthe ideals and aspirations of women's rights, the author establishes a dialogue with the reader, more specifically, the reader, about the female condition and the mechanisms of domination.
