Festejo do Divino Espírito Santo na comunidade quilombola Malhadinha em Brejinho de Nazaré, Tocantins

Abstract

The theme of this research was chosen due to its cultural and religious relevance in the context of a quilombola community in the state of Tocantins and aimed to present the festa do divino espírito santo from the perspective of the geography of religion, as a ritualistic and symbolic manifestation in the sacred space. of the Malhadinha community. The objective of this research is to analyze the festejo do divino espírito santo in the quilombola community Malhadinha, located in the municipality of Brejinho de Nazaré-TO, and is justified by the importance of understanding this type of religious and cultural manifestation in the context of a quilombola community through the bias of the geography of religion. We opted for a bibliographic review as a research method – in addition to seeking information from residents –, considering that many works on the subject were developed in Brazil and also at a regional level, such as goiás, and carrying out fieldwork for direct observation and taking photos of the event. It is exposed that the quilombola families cultivate several religious celebrations that symbolize, spiritually, the experience of work, religiosity, entertainment and daily life that maintains strong traces of africanity and this is an aspect that attracted us to this religious manifestation, as they were not lost in the time, but acquired new local meanings.
