Dinamica do trabalho rural no norte do Tocantins: Meeiros.

Abstract

The study intends to trace social characteristics of the "meeiros", in the rural community of Araçulândia, in the northern region of the state of Tocantins, with a secondary objective to verify the dynamics of these individuals. We use as theoretical reference the precarization of rural work in Brazil according to Freitas Gonçalos, among others. As methodology, the bibliographical research and semistructured interviews of the workers "sharecroppers", we conclude that the profile of these workers is composed of individuals with low schooling and other occupations. As a preliminary result we have that are people who work as sharecroppers, but also in another function to increase their income. Among those interviewed it was clear that there is little prospect of future in the profession of farmer, but today it is the main source of sustenance of their families.
