Consciência lexical: os estrangeirismos na percepção de licenciandos de matemática da universidade federal do Tocantins.

Abstract

This monograph presents a reflection on the use of foreign words in our language and the perception of a group of speakers in relation to them. The research was done through a questionnaire applied to fifteen undergraduate students of the 6º period of the UFT-Cimba Mathematics course, with questions about foreign language in our language. The work also presents a brief explanation about lexicon and two of the phenomena that belong to this level of language: foreignism and neologism, using as theoretical reference the works of ABBADE [ca 1980], ALDEIA [ca 2010], ALVES (1984a, 1984b), ALVES (1987), GONÇALVES (2011), MENDONÇA (2011), ORMUNDO (2007). From the analysis of the questionnaire, it was observed that these foreign words are used unconsciously by most Portuguese speakers. Of the respondents, 86.71% can identify these foreigners and make conscious use of them and advocate these uses because they believe that they enrich the language, while for 14.29% of these respondents even using the foreigners believe that they devalue our language and make it lose its identity.
